First Place with Team Murà (Sunmisola Osawere Precious)
Project Leadership, Innovation, and Technology-Driven Problem Solving
Participating in the International Women’s Day (IWD) 2025: Enriching Women’s Path program hosted by The Leadership Labs was a defining experience that strengthened my confidence and reinforced the importance of creativity, collaboration, and bold thinking in solving real-world problems.
As part of the team that won first place during the innovation challenge, we developed Mura: an AI-powered fashion and styling assistant designed to help women of different body types, skin tones, ages, and personal styles make confident clothing choices through a more inclusive and technology-driven experience. My role involved leading the project, coordinating the team’s direction, developing the core concept, and contributing to the final presentation and mock-up presented to the judges.
At the time, artificial intelligence was not as widely discussed or accessible as it is today, but working on the project deepened my curiosity about AI and its real-world applications. The experience also revealed my ability to lead effectively under pressure and turn ideas into actionable solutions. Beyond the award itself, the experience strengthened my leadership, communication, and project management skills while giving me the confidence to pursue bigger opportunities and continue exploring technology-driven innovation and problem-solving. Most importantly, the program taught me that innovative ideas can come from anywhere when people are willing to think differently and work together.
