Third Place with Team Amora (Olagunju Oladotun Pelumi)

Women-Centered Innovation, Leadership, and Purposeful Impact

Being part of the International Women’s Day 2025: Enriching Women’s Path program was a deeply inspiring experience that reminded me of the importance of women occupying spaces of leadership, innovation, and impact. As a Geology undergraduate in a male-dominated field, being surrounded by ambitious and accomplished women strengthened my confidence and reinforced the belief that women belong in every space where meaningful change is created.

One of the highlights of the program was participating in the InnovateHer Challenge with Team Amora, where we placed third place during the teamwork challenge. Our project focused on addressing the lack of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) specifically designed for women working in industries such as engineering, construction, and geosciences. Together, we proposed PPE tailored to the female body to improve safety, comfort, and functionality for women in these fields. My role involved contributing to the research, ideation process, and presentation of our solution while collaborating closely with my teammates to refine our concept.

Beyond the competition, the program exposed me to valuable conversations on leadership, mentorship, public speaking, goal-setting, and global opportunities for women. It strengthened my confidence, expanded my perspective, and inspired me to pursue opportunities that create impact not only for myself but also for other young women navigating similar paths. Most importantly, the experience motivated me to continue advocating for women-inclusive innovation and to actively contribute to creating spaces where women are empowered to thrive.
